Reflect Orbital has signed on as a sponsor of the 2026 Nightscaper Photo Conference
We are honored to announce that Reflect Orbital will be joining us at the Nightscaper Photo Conference.
The Nightscaper Photo Conference is excited to announce that Reflect Orbital is joining as a sponsor and the official sunlight provider of the 2026 event, to be held in Farmington, New Mexico, May 14-17, 2026.
Founded in 2021, Reflect Orbital is a California-based startup developing a constellation of satellites equipped with large, steerable mirrors to reflect sunlight back to Earth. The company plans to launch prototypes in 2026, aiming to offer “sunlight on demand.”
Reflect Orbital will join other sponsors for the conference in the Four Corners region, sending a brand representative to help attendees better understand how to use sunlight in their night photography and in their enjoyment of dark skies.
Moreover, on the second night of the conference, Reflect will sponsor a Sun Party, where attendees can gather for private viewing of a night sky with no stars and zero-percent Milky Way. Other attractions will include seeing shadows on the ground and roasting marshmallows over the flashlight bonfire. All party attendees will be given sunscreen and branded sunglasses, so they can enjoy the night more safely. Reflect will also have sponsored speaker Hope Mar on hand to teach participants how to photograph in the special conditions of the party, including a live demo on using 10-stop neutral density filters to avoid blowing out reflected-sunlight exposures while shooting at ISO 6400. Attendees can bring their cameras, but there’s no need for tripods.
“We couldn’t be more excited than to have a revolutionary innovator like Reflect Orbital support the conference,” says Lance Keimig of National Parks at Night, which owns and produces the event. “I’ve been involved in the night photography world for nearly four decades, and one big challenge over that time has been the serious levels of darkness at night. I mean, really, you can barely make out anything around you, and it takes forever to take a picture. Reflect’s groundbreaking technology will finally enable us to see what we’re doing, and to do it quickly so we can get back to bed.”
In addition to throwing the Sun Party, Reflect Orbital will also sponsor Hope Mar’s conference presentation “EV 15 at 1:00 a.m. — Bringing Much-Needed Light to the Duldrums of Dark-Sky Photography.” According to Mar, the presentation will teach night photographers how to utilize Reflect Orbital’s innovations to make night photography a more productive endeavor. She will cover topics such as using special intervalomters for timing dubiously fast shutter speeds, organizing the vast amount of photo files and image data required for added-sunlight photography, and compensating for the blue tones so prevalent when shooting reflected sunlight at 3850 K.
